The objective of this study is to examine the digital media consumption behaviors of young adults in Singapore through a collaborative research project with the InfoComm Media Development Authority (IMDA).

 

The research aims to gather insights by engaging young adults residing and/or employed in Singapore in a diary study to document their observations regarding their digital media consumption habits.

Problem Trigger:

Our Objectives:

  • Better understanding of the types of digital media used by young adults in Singapore 

  • How they interact with the digital product

  • The types of applications used and how their schedule affect product usage 

  • Understanding their emotions while using specific digital media

We would like to analyse these findings to determine ways and solutions to improve these young adults' experiences.

We will be using elicitation studies to conduct our dairy study.
 

Our Over-Arching Question:

How might we improve the young adult's experiences regarding the use of digital media?

Insights we would like to gather for this study:

Overall

- Perceptions regarding Digital Media  

       To understand their take on digital media. What is digital media to them.

- The types of digital media users use often  

       To understand what are the popular and commonly used by users 

​

- Favourite Applications used  

    To understand they types of applications the young adult's use 

​

- Why do users use their favourite application for? 

    Is it for work, school, or some other reason why you need the applications? 

​

- What are the types of applications users would download?  

    Which one do they use often, and which one do they use rarely?

Daily

- What user did mostly the entire day 

- Apps users usually use

- The applications used while users are on the go 

- What are their moods before and after using the app?

- What is the type of devices users use on?

Our Target Audiences and Criteria:

For our target audiences, we will be focusing on young adults in Singapore regardless of their occupation status .


Here is our criteria, 

- Must be residing in Singapore 
- Must be young adults aged 18 –25 years old.
- Young adults that utilize digital products in their everyday lives 

 

We will be recruiting through social media and through Republic Poly student's Outlook accounts.  For now, we are aiming for at least 2 participants  
 

Methods Participants Will be Using:

Our approach would mostly be ones that are less taxing and hands on for participants as we would like to encourage the participants to engaging on the dairy studies as often as possible. 
 

- Drawings
- Using one letter word and phrases 
- Using Pictures 
- Providing feedbacks and thoughts

Our task was to conduct a social research project with InfoComm Media Development Authority (IMDA) in regards to an investigation to local young adults' Digital Media Consumption Habits. We are tasked to use research methods such as, diary studies for this project.

For this Project, we would like to further understnd types of digital media used by current young adults. We will be doing this through collecting annd analysing data such as, types of digital media used by youths, how they interact with their devices, types of application used and how ones schedule affect thwir usage. Also we will be measuring their emotion to better understand what application improves user's mood.

To better understand the user's habits and behaviours, we would need to observe the applications used and the factors (environment, mood, types of application and schedules) that may have impacted it.  Question are grouped in a logical order.
